In "Things Fall Apart", I will explain to you how and why the missionaries were able to shock the non-conforming Igbo men and women. These reasons will explain why and how. First, is that the missionaries believe in another God. Second, is how the Igbo is scared to beleve in they're own religion. Finally, is how the Igbo people killed one of the missionaries and the missionaries fought back and killed almost everyone. After you read this, you will know why and how the missionaries shocked the Igbo people.

The missionaries were able to shock the Igbo men and women by their own religion. The missionaries are preaching about God and Jesus while the Igbo people believe in their own gods. But, somehow some of the Igbo people like the missionaries' religion. That's when the missionaries started building a church in the Igbo people's land. This is my first reason.

Second, the missionaries were able to shock the Igbo people by how some Igbo people are scared of listening the missionaries' preaches. That's because the Igbo people are scared that their gods would punish them. Some of the missionaries were trying to tell them that they're gods are not real. But, some Igbo men and women left the church. This is my second reason.

Finally, missionaries were able to shock the Igbo men and women by killling other tribes. That's because some people are afraid of them. So, they try to get a group to kill that missionary person. But, it turns out when that person is dead, more missionaries come in and finds out that one of their members are dead. So, they start killing villagers until almost no one is left.

In conclusion, for "Tings Fall Apart", this how and why the missionaries shocked the Igbo men and women. It was mostly because of their religion. The villagers should have not killed one of the members of the missionaries just because they believed in their gods. This is also why people start wars. Now, you understand a little more about this lesson. This is how and why missionaries shock people.

In Things Fall Apart Iwill be telling you how and why the missionaries were able to shock the igbo men and woman.First, I will tell you how the missionaries had believen another God seconed, I will tell you how the Igbo people had killed one of the missionaries and how the missionaries came back and killed almost every one. Then finally I will tell you how the missionaries got some of the Igbo people to believe there religion.

The missionaries had believen in another God and they thought that the igbo people were worshiping fake gods. They also believed in that if you do not worship the God you will not be saved when you die.But some of the Igbo people had beleivin the missionaries religion and thats how they were ablle to builed there church.

In chapter 15 or 16 there was apart when the missionaries had killed almost all the Igbo's in one village. One of the missionaries had gone to a village called Abame it said that he was lost trying to find his way I guess. Some of the people were scared at first until some of the Igbo people had came and killed that one missionarie then the next day a whole bunch of missionaries came and killed almost all of the Igbo people.

The way that the missionaries had got the Igbo people to believe there religion is that they had told them of what will happen to them if they do not prais there God that they believen in there God.They told them that if they do not worship him then they would not be saved when they die. They also were able to get some of them to prais there God because of what had happend in Abame and they were scared of what would happen if they had not beliven in the missionaries God.

In concluson the missionaries had got them to beliven in there God because of what had happend in Abame. They also got them to believen in their relgion because the Igbo people were afraid of what would happen to them if they had didn't.

In "Things Fall Apart", the common people you see are usually Nigerians. In the story, the Nigerian people are divided in to several villages. The largest village is Umofia. But throughout these villages, everyone goes with the traditional religion/customs which is Igbo. Our main character in "Things Fall Apart" is Okonkiwo. He follows this religion and is a worshiper and follows all of the customs. Some unfortunate villagers ever since the begining of the villages creation, have died due to following this religion. Now the new strange people to the Umofians are white. These aren't the normal white people they see throughout the region. They're called Missionaries. The missionaries have come to spread the word of God or the religion of Christianity. Now what you're going to see for the next few paragraphs are what they're opinions are about the Igbo Followers. How they shocked the Igbo people on how they did everything in their life that was common to Umofians, but uncommon or evil to the Missionaries.

The first thing i think they were thinking about was probably religion. From their first view, they probably saw native clothing or something religious. Now their job is to spread the word of god. So I think every time they see a non-believer they probably get the same reaction. A wicked reaction towards the religion which could probably mean/rude or a nice informing way type of reaction. To summarize this, I think they must've been in a angry/surprised/curious type of shock they must've seen.

Another thing that must've shocked the Igbo people about the missionaries was the lack of modern technology. The Missionaries must've came from a place that probably has
16th century gadgets - 17th century gadgets, since missionaries were mostly populated during those era's. I think they thought of the devil if they saw Witch doctors that mixed remedies. This to the common Umofians were blessed things that was somewhat sacred to their religion. But this isn't what the Missionaries agree with. So they said that if you were to follow this you'd go to a place that evil people who have not followed Christianity.

The last thing they did to shock the Igbo people about the Missionaries was not dieing to the Evil Forest. When the Missionaries built a church in Evil Forest, the elders thought they'd be dead in 4 days. But after 4 days, they were still alive. The whole tribe of Mbanta was surprised. They were curious about thee religion. If it gave them weird powers or if this God they were talking about was true. So this somewhat influenced some of them to convert. One after another some came and others stayed with the native religion and their ways.

There are some ways that religion could affect others mentally and physically. In "Things Fall Apart", it gives multiple examples of that. Nwoye, Okonkwo's son, wasn't shock but more likely confused and curious to me. He seemed confused/curious about his custom religion and embraced Christianity because people who were bad in a life could be saved from the evil that awaited them after death. To me I think he was still thinking about the death of Ikemenfuna. How his native religion is so brutal. This is the example how two religions could make person decide. So this is my answer to how the Missionaries shocked the life-style of the Igbo religion.

When the missionaries came to Umuofia and other Igbo villages, they were believed by many to perish under the wrath of the Igbo gods. Many also believed only the weak and helpless would join this new faith. However, these foreigners were able to shock the lives of traditional Igbo men and women. They had many benefits and advantages that helped them convert many of the Igbo to Christianity. In this essay you will discover how and why the missionaries were able to damage the traditional life styles of many Igbo citizens.

One of the main reasons why these foreigners were able to do this is because of the nature of their religion. Christianity is dramatically different than the tribal religion in Umuofia. For example Christianity accepts everyone no matter their background or culture, they even accept the osu or the outcasts. Proof of this is on page 156 where it states, “Before God, there is no slave or free. We are all children of God and we must receive these our brothers.” This statement refers to when the church was accepting the osu into their tribe. The Igbo religion dictates that twins, the osu, and the people who have horrible diseases shall live in the outskirts of the village or in the evil forest. All of the pieces of information stated show that the Igbo religion is harsh and unforgiving while Christianity is peaceful and is very compassionate.

Another reason why this religion is taking the villages by storm is that the Christians have numbers on their side as of now in the story. Many have converted to this new faith and only so many remain as true Igbo followers. The Christians have their own little community now that may dominate the population of the Igbo followers soon. This means that the Igbo are no longer a fighting force against this rapidly growing faith. In due time because of their overpowering numbers, the whole Igbo society may falter and only Christians would live in that part of Nigeria. Proof of this is located on page 176 where it states, “Our men and our sons have joined the ranks of the stranger. They have joined his religion and they help to uphold his government.” This refers to the growing community of evangelists that was explained by Obierika to Okonkwo.

Lastly, the foreigners have also brought with them the great advancement of an organized government. They had a court in which the district commissioner judged cases. The kotma are the people who bring men who need to be brought to trial. This affects many of the Igbo people because some of the Igbo rebelled against the new faith. This people were imprisoned and sometimes killed to fight for their way of life. On page 174 it states, “They had built a court where the district commissioner judged cases in ignorance. He had court messengers who brought men to him for trial.” This refers to the Kotma and the court. The government has imprisoned many and has killed many Igbo followers for their crimes.

In conclusion, the missionaries have brought change to the Igbo society. The religion has even been able to affect the lives of people who wish not to partake in this new faith. Their government, their power in sheer number, and the compassionate tone of their religion caused this to happen. The Igbo religion is slowly fading away under the wrath of the foreigners. This is an essay on, “Things fall apart.”

Chinua Achebe’s book “Things Fall Apart” is about Okonkwo. A man struggling with himself and the people around him. He often finds himself not following rules and doing things that aren’t good for the village. He lives in the largest village in Nigeria. It’s called Umuofia. Umuofia and some of the other villages in Nigeria believe in the Igbo. After Okonkwo was sent away from Umuofia many things change in Umuofia and in his life. The Christian missionaries go to Umuofia and receive land. Nwoye, Okonkwo’s son enjoys what the missionaries believe in and what they are about. This makes Nwoye join the missionaries and Okonkwo’s relationship with his son disappear! When Okonkwo returns to Umuofia after seven years he notices that Umuofia has lost the power and strength they had long ago that made all the other villages scared of them!

When the Christian missionaries came to Umuofia no one thought they would be staying long. In fact that is why they gave them the land in the “evil forest.” The missionaries in a way are conniving. This is because they tricked some of the Umuofians to join their religion. Umuofians are the type of people that usually make their decision, stick with it, and won’t change their answer!

“If we leave our gods and follow your god,” asked another man, “who will protect us from the anger of our neglected gods and ancestors?” This was a question asked by a Umuofian and the response to that was this: “Your gods are not alive and cannot do you any harm.” This made the Umuofians stop and think if some of them should believe in gods they don’t “see.” Some Umuofians didn’t have much beliefs and those left however others stayed in the Igbo religion. This happened to Mbantaian people also. Some people laughed at this and others didn’t. The missionaries were able to shock the lifestyle of traditional non-conforming Igbo men and women by convincing them that their gods weren’t real. They did this by telling them to name their gods then, they stated that the gods aren’t real. Since the Umuofians understood how smart the missionaries were and that helped the more Igbo followers

“The words of the hymn were like the drops of frozen rain melting on the dry palate of the painting earth. Nwoye’s callow mind was greatly puzzled.” Another reason why I think the Nwoye, other Umuofians, and Mbantaians changed to Christians was because they came to Umuofia with a purpose. To get more Christians missionaries and believers to join them! The third reason I thought it was easy for the Christian missionaries to get some Umuofians to join them was because they had already gone to Mbanta and done the same thing, so it was like repeating themselves since the Mbantaians believed in the same things!

Umuofia was “spilt” into two different religions! This all started when the missionaries came. There were different beliefs in Umuofia and Mbanta which made a lot of more arguments come up along with more fights and beatings! The missionaries overcame non-conforming traditional Umuofian men and women, and that shows that those people believed in their people so much and they wouldn’t stop until they had other people believe in them too. The missionaries didn’t like to show anger of give pain but when someone made fun of their culture that is what they resorted to. I figured that out by reading this statement: “Kotma of the ash buttocks, He is fit to be a slave. The white man has no sense, he is fit to be a slave. The court messengers did not like to be called Ashy-Buttocks, and they beat the men. But the song spread in Umuofia.”

In Chinua Achebe’s book Things Fall Apart the missionaries shocked the life style of traditional non-conforming Igbo men and women because of their different religions. The missionaries are Christians and the Igbo people are a different religion. The men of high title offered some land in the evil forest to the missionaries thinking they would refuse. To their amazement the missionaries built a church and got it running. But now the men of high title know that things fall apart. By the end of this essay you will know how and why the missionaries shocked the life style of traditional non-conforming Igbo men and women.

First of all Christianity is different than any other religion. Trust me I know, I am a Christian. Christians only believe in one god. Their one gods, name is Jesus or God. Plus Christians are very excepting like when the church accepted osu they were outcast. But one man named Mr. Kiaga accepted them with open arms. You see it does not matter if your short, fat, hairy, ugly your accepted.

Now, the Igbo’s believe in many gods. There is a god or goddess. Like the earth, harmony, harvests, and the goddess of love. They believe that the gods or goddess have different power or specialties. Example: If the harvest goddesses are not pleased with you, you will have a bad harvest. So the Igbo’s have a way different perspective on religion.

After the seven years Okonkwo came to Umuofia. Umuofia much had changed. They are harsh to the people that worship in a church. Okonkwo is surprised to find out that the missionaries have not been run out of the village. Obierika tells Okonkwo that the ties of kinship have gone lower and lower. Okonkwo knows that things are falling apart.

Now do you know why the missionaries shocked the life style of traditional non-conforming Igbo men and women? I think the missionaries and the Igbo’s are scared of eachother. But since the missionaries live by the Igbo’s they are going to have to figure out how to get along. This is what happen in the book things fall apart.

The missionaries shocked the traditional Igbo men and women in many ways. The igbo people believe in the gods of the earth while the missionaries believe in jesus and the god of the heavens. The nigerians found this to be insulting. They treated the white christians terribly. But the christians fought back in a non-violent way.

When the missionaries came to Mbaino to build a church the people were outraged. But they allowed the missionaries a plot of land in the evil forest. This happened only because the people of Mbanto thought that the spirits of the forest would kill them in 28 market days. But the christians went ahead and cleared the land for their church. They built the church which surprised several people for they thought the spirits of the forest would kill them before 28 market days passed.

The threats and attacks on the missionaries really picked up after the 28 market days passed. But the missionaries combated this issue by building a place of judgement in Umofia. One man had already been hung for killing a missionarie. But the thing that truly shocked people was the fact that people were changing to the christian religion.

The people were shocked to hear stories of a god who could do anything when they had multiple gods for multiple things.Week by week more and more people were being converted to christianity. The people didn't like this but decided that if the christians stepped out of line they would chase them away. They thought the christians were crazy.

These are the main reasons that the traditional igbo people were shocked at the missionaries. In their eyes the christians were crazy and wrong. But that is in the eye of the beholder.

In Things Fall Apart I will be explain to you how missionaries were able to shock the Igbo men and woman. First, I will explain you how the missionaries had believed another God second. I will also tell you how the Igbo people had killed one of the missionaries. Then finally I will tell you how the missionaries got some of the Igbo people to believe their religion.

The missionaries had believed in another God. They thought that the Igbo people were worshiping fake gods. In chapter 15 and 16 there was a part when the missionaries had killed almost all the Igbo's in one village. In conclusion the missionaries had got them to believe in there God because of what had happened in Abame. They also got them too believed in their religion because the Igbo people were afraid of what it would happen to them if they had done it.

In “Things Fall Apart” during the later chapters, the missionaries came to Mbanta and Umoufia to destroy the Ibo civilization. They hated the Ibo and will do everything to stop it. The Ibo beliefs and gods were uninteresting and dumb to the missionaries. For dislikes of one another, wars began to live as the Igbo people and the missionaries fought their differences out. All of these examples some up my whole passage.

There were many different reasons why the missionaries shocked the lifestyle of the Igbo men and women. The first reason is setting a example. The missionaries built a church in Mbanta to get more people to join their civilization and to drive more and more people out of the Ibo civilization. Their church rules made a difference maker in Nigeria. They allowed mothers with twins to live, women had a say, and everything wasn’t as violent as the Ibo churches. The missionary’s actions caused a lot of problems with Umoufia and the Igbo

The Igbo people were tired of the missionaries preaches and actions towards them. Without solving the problems in a war, the Igbo tried to be nice for a change. They gave the missionaries an offer for a portion of their land. They were confident that the missionaries would take this offer as a sign for peace and as a distraction. The Igbo people thought that this offer would cause a sneak attack one day. All of these thoughts were incorrect and their game plan failed. The missionaries accepted their offer and continued getting more and more Igbo to Christianity.

More people mean less people for the Ibo. The missionaries were driving men and women out of the Ibo civilization to Christianity. It has even gotten worse now as the missionaries have land right next to the Igbo. The Igbo thoughts and feelings might hunt them instead of the missionaries. This was a big problem for the Ibo in “Things Fall Apart”

In conclusion, the missionaries differently shocked the lifestyle of the Igbo people. They caused many different problems with the Igbo which proves that their not dumb. The Ibo civilization is slowly falling apart and no one knows how to stop it.

    1st Paragraph-
No one in the village of Umofia ever expected the missionaries to survive in the land they had been given. However when the missionaries overcame the land in which the village had given them, many of the villagers found it very miraculous that anyone could survive while residing in that location. In the following chapters I will be further explaining how and why the missionaries were able to shock the lifestyles of the traditional non-conforming men and women of the Igbo village. Enjoy! Surprises, twists, and answers lurk on every corner.

    2nd Paragraph-
There were many factors that made some of the villagers of Umofia want to believe in the new fascinating religion the missionaries had brought with them. It was the idea of a Trinity, the longing for a happiness to fill some of the empty souls that lied within the Umofians. “It was the poetry of the new religion, something felt in the marrow”. “The hymn about brothers who sat in darkness and in fear seemed to answer a vague and persistent question” that haunted many of the villagers young and old. Not only that, it was the idea of one person believing in only one God that shocked the villagers the most. These were not only reasons but answers to the essay question of how they were able to shock the villagers. However this was not the only factor and the next one will be shared in the following paragraph.

    3rd Paragraph-
As the village leaders crowded around in a circle they delegated what piece of land they would give the missionaries, for the missionaries had asked for a piece of land to build their church upon. As they village leaders began to talk excitedly about the missionaries’ request, they realized a way to not only grant the missionaries’ wishes, but also to get back at them secretly without the missionaries even knowing they death trap they had just fallen into, or so the Umofians thought. So the village leaders came to a conclusion, that if the missionaries wanted land they would give them a piece…… of the Evil Forest!

    4th Paragraph-
Anyone who ever stepped foot in the Evil Forest or even dared to live there, was expected to die or be killed by the powerful gods that were believed to rest in the Evil Forest. Every village had its own Evil Forest it was believed that the things that rested in the Evil Forest were to horrible for words. In the Evil Forest rested dead villagers who had died of smallpox and leprosy. There in the Evil Forest also rested the potent fetishes of great medicine men when they died. So with all of these things resting in the Evil Forest it was believed that the Evil Forest had alive sinister forces, spirits, and god that rested in it.

    5th Paragraph-
So because all of these challenges were overcome by the missionaries, all of those many factors went into how and why the missionaries were able to shock the non-conforming men and women of the Igbo. After all of these miraculous events took place the Igbo couldn’t believe that the missionaries only believed in one god and they actually survived. I hope that you have found my essay comments very informative. Thank you.

In the book "Thing Fall Apart" I think that they want the Igbo people to learn about there religion. They want them to learn about Christianity. So they will go to there village and teach them about god.So basically they are going around telling them about what they believe in so they can follow and they want everyone to do the same. They treat those who don't follow what they believe on rudely and disrespectful.

Also they use these weird technology that the Igbo people have never seen before. They have way more different expectations than the Igbo people that is why the think that they are weird. They believe that a village needs to have a church. So they try to put up churches in Umofia. But they don't want them there because that is not there religion.

They thought weird about evil.Or you may say the devil they wanted nothing to do with him. They where against him. They thought that the devil was different kinds of witch doctors all together.Basically different spirits because the witch doctors where evil.So they didn't praise him only god they worshiped.

Lastly they really to surprised the Igbo people with the white men culture. When the white men built a church in Evil Forest the elderly thought they had been dead in four days. Although after those four days they where still alive. The whole tribe of Mbanta was shocked they didnt know what was goin on. They found out this god was really true so they where shocked. So it gave them influence to listen. One after another some came and others stayed with the native religion and their ways.

Some ways that religion could affect others mentally and physically. Nwoye which is Okonkwo's son was not in a surprised but he was sort of confused. He didn't really know about his religion at first he wasn't sure how to react to it. He wanted to believe in the white men culture. This is because the people who dies from there come back to life if they where bad after there death. This is preety much like what happened to Ezima. I think he thinks about what happened to Ikemefuna. He thinks his religion is so evil.

The missionaries shocked the Igboo by showing that they(missionaries) are strongerthan what they seem. The missionaries stood out and did things that they knew would make them gain power. In a smaller term, they showed the Igbos "light" in many souls amongst others.

The reason that the missionaries shocked the Igbo is because they wanted to prove worthy of stature. Since they proved worthy, few people coverted at first then many more were apealed to the missionaries way of religion. Many of the elders were suspicious and concerned for their dear villagers of Umofia.

Unfortunalty, the people that gave into the horribly pitiful act the missionaries put out were killed and ordered around. The missionaries tricked the them all into turning themselves in something that would seem good an holy, but only came to be extremly disturbing and unessisary.

The worst part is that Nwoye has even become interseted in the missionaries' "Christianity" ways. Okonkwo wasn't moved by the missionaries, he thought very bad of them. Therefore, when Nwoye secretly went to the church and Okonkwo's cousin, Amikwu, spotted him there, Okonkwo almost killed his son by choking him.

All in all, this church was to make sure that Umofia, and it's religions, all fall apart and crumble. Almost as if the missionaries are trying to regain and/or get back what they had....but what is that something?

In "Things Fall Apart" white missionaries come to the town of Umuofia. They have built a church and a hospital. The missionaries are Christians so they worship one god. In this essay I will tell you how and why the missionaries were able to shock the lifestyle of the Igbo men and women. When the missionaries came to Umuofia things started to fall apart.

In "Things Fall Apart" the Igbo men and women thought that the missionaries weren't strong enough to convince them to become Christians like them. That is why they let them build a church and hospital there because they knew the missionaries weren’t going to convince the people of Umuofia. Okonkwo thinks of the people were fools because the Oracle warned that the white men would bring danger. Also they heard stories about white men made powerful guns took slaves away across the seas, but no one thought the stories were true. Although Nwoye became moved with their beliefs and wanted to become a missionary and a Christian. Because of that Okonkwo would not talk to him and he became disappointed with Nwoye.

The missionaries told the Igbo people to stop worshipping their false Gods (devils). If they don't stop worshipping their false gods they will go to hell. If they stop they will become saved and be able to go to heaven and live forever. They became scared because they didn’t want to become a missionary and go to hell. The people of Umuofia are supposed to be Igbo and stay with that religion.

In "Things Fall Apart" there is tension between the Igbo people and the missionaries. The Igbo men and women are scared to join the missionaries. Though Nwoye isn't because he is fascinated with the missionaries. The missionaries are trying hard to convince them to stop their foolish ways. They should have listened to the Oracle.

In this essay I told you how and why the missionaries shocked the lifestyle of the Igbo men and women. I believe the missionaries are very sneaky and something bad is going to happen to Umuofia. I think this because things are already starting to fall apart. The people of Umuofia didn't expect all of this from the missionaries. If they would try to hurt the missionaries they would do something back.

In the story "Things Fall Apart"has missionariesthat stayed in the marketplace for their fifth or sixth night. One morning they woke up and they went to the village. They went there gospel.Gospel is a kind of church music. So one day when they went to the village they and they asked the villager who their king was.

They said they did not have a king.A king is a person that carrys a lot of titles. For example,if they had 1,000titles they would be considered as a king. But if you had 100 titles than you will not be the king because 1,000 is more than 100.S one day when they went to the village they asked the villagers if they could have a part of their land. But one of them said yes and the others said no.when they dissagreed the other man told them why he said yes.He said yes becausehe want them to get the part of the evil froest. So when he told them that they started to agree.

O than the villagers sent them to their part of land. The next day they started to bulid a church. So that took them about two weeks. When they were done they started to tell everyon that they wanted them to come everydayto thank their gods.So the next day i gess people started to go to the church.

When the people went to church they knew that there was something fishy about the area. They knew that it was part of the evil forest. But they still went. But there was a man named okonowo .That did not go to church.S when people were there he walked past it rudly.

So when he saw his cusin he said "Hi".And then she said "Hi".then she said that the church was a very good church, than she paused....Than she saked him why she never saw him there. But he did not answer that.I think he did not answer that because he probely did not like going to that church. He knew that there was something so fishy about it and he did not want to take any chance from going.

The men and women of Igbo valued their culture and their gods. The people of Igbo worshipped their gods and believed they’d be punished for disobedience. Their culture and beliefs greatly influenced the men and women’s life style. If a member of the tribe were to disobey the gods the punishment was death. The missionaries were able to shock the life style of traditional non-conforming Igbo men and women by defying their beliefs as well as dividing their families.

“The villagers were so certain about the doom that awaits these men that one or two converts thought it wise to suspend their allegiance to the new faith.” The missionaries asked the elders of Igbo for land to build a church. The elders decided to give the missionaries land for their church. In hopes that the missionaries would die, the land given to the missionaries was in the “Evil Forest.” Happily, the missionaries began to build their church.

The culture and beliefs of the men and women of Igbo greatly influenced their lifestyle. In “Things Fall Apart,” the author states that “It was well known among the people of Mbanta that their gods and ancestors were long-suffering and would deliberately allow a man to go on defying them. But even in such cases they set their limits at seven market weeks or twenty eight days. Beyond that no man was suffered to go.” To the disbelief of the men and women of Igbo, the day came when the missionaries should have died but they were all still alive.

“One morning Okonkwo’s cousin, Amikwu, was passing by the church on his way from the neighboring village, when he saw Nwoye among the Christians.” Amikwu went to Okonkwo to tell him what he saw. Okonkwo was furious; he choked Nwoye and hit him with a stick. The missionaries insulted the gods of Igbo as well as severed family ties. Nwoye left is father, Okonkow to join the Christian church.

The missionaries shocked the life style of traditional non-confirming Igbo men and women by defying their beliefs. The missionaries insulted their gods and even built their church in the”Evil Forest” yet were spared from the wrath of Igbo’s gods. The culture and beliefs of the Igbo people had been passed down through generations. The missionaries were able to devastate traditions by dividing families. With new beliefs and divided families, the life style of Igbo was shocked and changed forever.

The missionaries shocked the traditional Igbo men and women in many different ways. The missionaries believe in Jesus and gods in the heavens while the Igbo people believe in the gods of the earth like the earth goddess. Most people in their village thought that the missionaries are foolish so they treated them without respect. Still the missionaries never gave up in persuading most of the villagers to believe in their god.

The missionaries were spreading like wildfire and they built a church in a village called Mbaino. The Igbo people were furious so when the missionaries wanted to build a church in their land they gave them a piece of land near the evil forest. They said that they would die in a couple of days because they were near the evil forest but they were wrong. None of them died so now they had a church in their village. People of the village thought that they were powerful and indestructible they mostly thought that about the white men in the missionaries.

Days have passed since the missionaries were in Umoufia and were spreading their word of god. Surprisingly their faith in Christianity was interesting most of the Igbo people while some other Igbo people still believed in their own god and stayed away from the missionaries. When some of the villagers killed some of the missionaries the missionaries fought back and they were winning because they had more people on their side. Now it seems that the whole village is going to believe in Christianity and follow the missionary’s word of god.

Also they shocked the men and women because they wanted the villagers to believe in their god. The missionaries already knew that they were going to succeed by people believing their word of god. They knew this because they already did this to some other villages like Mbaino and they already started building a church in the villages. So now everyone in the villages are basically brainwashed because of the missionaries.

That is how the missionaries were able to shock the lifestyle of traditional non-confirming Igbo men and women. They did this because they were able to build churches in everywhere they went like Umoufia and Mbaino. Also they had more people so whenever the Igbo people fought with them they would always win in war or any other combat. Last is that they already planned in what are they going to do. So that is how they shocked the men and women.
